Yes, well it was always going to be a challenge! We have carried multiple bags and boxes up and down the muddy tow path adding and swapping stuff to ensure that we have our favourite things in our new home.
List of absolute essentials:
- Ian’s framed collection of signed Marillion album covers
- Heather’s anodised pots and pans
- Ian’s Marillion T shirts
- Heather’s coffee machine
- Ian’s music collection -including all that is Marillion
- Heather’s painting stuff
- Ian’s Marillion mugs
- Heather’s knitting and sewing stuff
- Ian’s Marillion hoodie, fleece and beanie hat
- The dog’s fluffy bed and assorted tennis balls
Despite our thirty plus years of narrow boating experience, being true liveaboards is going to be a new challenge, which we think we are ready for as we already have a few guidelines to live by:
- we’re not rushing anywhere
- if we haven’t got it, then we’ll manage without it
- knowing how close the next service facilities is pretty vital for water and toilet emptying (yuk)
- keeping track of the fuel boats on Facebook will be really helpful to avoid getting cold or stranded
- Getting the roof repainted and the solar panels on will really help with the supply of electricity
