A nightmare and a little meander

We spent the last week exhausting ourselves completing the clearing and cleaning our five bed, three storey house with multiple trips to the tip, charity shops and Ian’s Mum’s garage for storage. It’s been a nightmare, but the end result is that the house is ready for completion-on a sale that was agreed five months ago!
Over the last few weeks Ian has proven his worth as a salesman selling anything that we had that was worth the effort. We’ve also donated to the YMCA, Oxfam and the Northwest Air Ambulance Charity shops in our hometown of Congleton and the East Cheshire Live Well project that then came and collected two van loads of furniture to support low-income families, so nothing has been wasted.
We now live on narrowboat “Heron” and the motorhome has been nicknamed “Hollie” as we’ll be going on our holi-days in it! Our original plan to head up the Macclesfield to visit Bugsworth Basin for a few days has already changed and we’re just doing a shorter meander along the cut to the bottom of Bosley Locks before staying around Congleton for a couple of weeks. Spending more time with family and sorting the mountain of stuff out that we’ve piled into that garage!
We’re spending this time doing some serious spring cleaning and reorganising of the boat. We have solar panels to put on the roof -when we have finally had the time and weather to finish repainting it. Stoppages keep popping up so we are also keeping our plans open for February/March, but we are hoping to head towards Blakemere on the Llangollen Canal.
